teaching!

Announcing the opening of my teaching/consulting studio in Brooklyn! Geared towards pop musicians, but all are welcome. Take a look at the "Teaching" page on the left for more information, or get in touch!

I'm more or less settled in, in Bushwick, with lots of exciting projects on the horizon. Stay tuned!

a couple exciting things

1. I'm moving back to Brooklyn! Getting excited about all of the amazing restaurants there, and maybe I'll go to a few concerts too.

2. This September I will be in residence at the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts in Wyoming. Ten days of big sky and composing.

3. I will be starting a composition teaching studio soon! More on that in the coming weeks.

4. Many new composition projects in the works - more on those soon as well!

a quick update

The Boston premiere of my Quintet will be on Feb. 12 at The Boston Conservatory. 8pm, 8 The Fenway, Seully Hall. Free!

I've been blown away by the sheer amount of incredible new music in the last few weeks. The new Sleater-Kinney and Belle & Sebastian albums are awesome, and the new Björk album is heartbreaking. And check out the new Mew single. And Andrew Norman's "Play", performed by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. I think that's enough for now....

Autumn goings-on

Hello from Boston, where the autumn leaves are beautiful and the drivers are still awful.

A couple of exciting concerts coming up soon! First, three pieces of mine are being performed as part of the Boston Conservatory Composer Recital Series:

Thursday, Oct. 9, 8:00 PM - US premiere of Koch-aine, for piano trio, about the pernicious Koch brothers.

Tuesday, Oct. 25, 8:00 PM - US premiere of Ten Feet, for flute and percussion, about the melting of the West Antarctic ice shelf.

Thursday, Dec. 4, 8:00 PM - Pothos, a set of three songs for soprano, mezzo-soprano, flute, clarinet, and piano, about unrequited love.

All three of these will be live-streamed; check back for links.

And the big one:

Sunday, Nov. 16, 3:00 PM, in New York, the American Chamber Ensemble will be performing a full program of my music. The concert will feature legendary New York Philharmonic clarinetist Stanley Drucker. There will be two world premieres and a number of other works that the ensemble has performed over the past few years as well. And Stanley will be performing Bernstein's Clarinet Sonata with the wonderful pianist (and co-director of the ensemble) Marilyn Lehman - that is something you do not want to miss.

Details and ticket information can be found here. Hope to see you there!
